South East Cornerstone Public School Division is looking for a temporary part-time Jordan's Principle Interventionist. This position reports to the Coordinator of Learning Supports and is responsible to provide service coordination for First Nations school-aged children and to support families to ensure children with diverse needs have the necessary services and supports to thrive at home and within their community. This position will provide leadership and support to children ages 6 - 17.

This position works 18.75 hours per week/3.75 hours per day
Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary degree in Social Work, Education, Health or related fields.
- Experience working with intensive needs children/youth and their families at home or in school.
- Knowledge of trends and needs in the education of students with diverse needs.
- Cross-cultural knowledge and/or sensitivity.
- Possess a current and valid Class A driver's license.

- Ability to work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with parents, teachers, and support services.
- Evidence of a high level of organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage and coordinate a number of projects and tasks while effectively managing time.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons or facts.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with all staff within the school division, local organizations and with the local communities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to gather data, provide analysis of it and provide necessary reports to the Coordinator of Learning Supports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Without restricting the above general description, the Jordan's Principle Interventionist shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, but not restricted to, the following:
- To assist families by providing information, resources and opportunities to enhance well-being and accessing services for their child.
- To enhance awareness in First Nations communities of existing programs and support.
- To provide or coordinate: outreach, advocacy, referrals, case management, transition planning, education and awareness sessions.
- To support families in navigating various systems and provide ways of inclusion in all aspects of the child's life.
- To connect families with support systems in their communities.
- To provide students, families and community services with best practice information.
- To support student transitioning between school and home and after high school completion.
- To support families in setting up programs that will best meet their child's needs.
- To support families as the advocate for their child's needs.
- To initiate and maintain contacts with various interagency committees and appropriate human service agencies.
- To develop and maintain relationships with families, caregivers, and support agencies.
- To be a collaborative team player with the SECPSD instructional coaches group.
- To attend meetings of Division Services, administrators, system committees and others as required.
- Conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to an educational institution.
- Be willing to engage in lifelong learning with respect to training, in-services and courses of study.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Learning Supports.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary and benefits are in accordance with SECPSD's out-of-scope salary grids. The starting wage for this position is $30.00 per hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
