Temporary Part-Time Educational Associate @ Arcola School (CUPE)

Hours of Work:
Equivalent to 2 hours per day student days. *Please note: This position could be combined with our other current Arcola posting for 4 hours per day to make a full 6 hours.  If this position is accepted as a stand-alone position, the successful candidate would be required to work 4 hours per day, every other day.*

Duties:
In addition to those duties outlined in the job description, duties include supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs. The successful applicant may be required to perform the following:

• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without a lift and up to 120 pounds with 2 man lift or mechanical lift
• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required to transport)
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required
• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher
• Focus on successfully transitioning the student to be able to work with other students and adults
• Focus on behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required
• Supervision of intensive needs student(s) as well as small groups of students as required

Qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member
• Valid driver's license
• Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software
• An educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets
• Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division

Salary & Benefits:
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated CUPE Collective Agreement as listed on our website www.secpsd.ca.  The starting wage for this position is currently $20.12/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
