Duties:
Without restricting the generality of the job description, the Cafeteria Assistant shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:
- Stocking shelves and front end of cafeteria
- Occasionally prepare baked goods and salads as directed by the Cafeteria Support Assistant
- Receiving stock from food suppliers and ensuring it is put away properly in the correct location
- Handle monies from staff and students for the cash registers
- Ensure safety requirements are met for staff and students as directed from the teacher
- Washing and folding towels used in the kitchen
- Cleaning counters, equipment and floors
- Dishwashing as needed for the kitchen
- Ensuring that the security of the kitchen is maintained at the end of day through a lock up
- Conduct oneself in a professional and practical manner within a teaching kitchen environment
- Deal tactfully with staff, students, parents and the public as it applies to an educational setting
Qualifications: - A Grade 12 diploma from a provincially recognized institution or equivalent
- Experience from other institutions such as schools or hospitals an asset but not required
- Valid Food-Safe Level 1
Required Skills and Abilities: - Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
- Ability to present a positive attitude and work ethic
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds without a lift
- Knowledge of industrial kitchen equipment, its use and maintenance
Salary and Benefits: Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIU-West Collective Agreement as listed on our website
www.secpsd.ca The wage range for this position is currently $20.73/hour - $22.63/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
